Pindan Wins 2nd Fortescue Solomon Camp Contract
Date Published: 17/11/2011
Fortescue Metals Group has awarded the $56 million camp construction contract to Pindan for the establishment of its Permanent Camp at the Solomon Hub Project in the state’s north-west.
The 1,500 man camp contract is the second awarded to Pindan at the Solomon Project, following the awarding of the $22 million contract to build the 800 bed Dally Construction Camp in March.
The Permanent camp works includes the design of the camp, site earth works, drainage and sewage, installation of buildings and camp facilities including services and roads. Work will begin on site in coming weeks, with a completion date of August 2012.
The camp’s buildings will be supplied by Fortescue.
Pindan’s Contracting division director Dickie Dique said securing the camp supply contracts for Fortescue was testament to Pindan’s track record and reputation in the resource industry.
“We look forward to achieving a great result for Fortescue at both the Permanent and Dally camp. Our division is enjoying a remarkable expansion in the WA resources sector on the back of these and other major contract wins for some of Australia’s largest producers,” he said.
Fortescue’s Solomon Project is 70 kilometres north of Tom Price. Works at the Dally Camp are due to be completed in late November 2011.
Pindan director of business development Scott Davison said the dual contract award by Fortescue supported the relationship between the group and the miner and that Pindan looks forward to continuing to be a leading provider to the resources market.
