Construction commences at Quest South Perth
Quest Apartment Hotels is continuing its expansion in Western Australia, with construction commencing at Quest on Mends Street, located at 21 and 23 Mends Street.
The property will be Quest’s second in South Perth and fifth within the Perth inner suburbs, providing yet another premium apartment hotel offering for both the leisure and corporate traveller. It comes during an exciting period of expansion currently taking place in Perth, reflecting the city’s growing global significance.
The development is part of the Mends Street Connect South project, a $7.5 million major project to enhance and invigorate the Mends Street precinct and foreshore area by creating a thriving business and leisure environment.
Onsite to mark the occasion was Developer from Westzone, Robert O’Brien, Quest 2 Apartment Hotels general manager – growth, James Shields and builder from Pindan, Lee Chalmers.
City of South Perth Mayor Sue Doherty said Mends Street was going through a period of transformation.
“The Mends Street Connect South project aims to enhance and invigorate the Mends Street precinct and foreshore area,” Mayor Doherty said.
James Shields said Quest on Mends Street is in line with the company’s national growth strategy and reinforces its commitment to meeting the needs of emerging inner urban business centres.
“The development of the South Perth foreshore teamed with the recent development of Elizabeth Quay will create easy access between South Perth and Perth CBD, making South Perth a highly desirable location for local and international business headquarters. Quest on Mends Street will be able to provide premium short and long term accommodation to travellers doing business in the area,” said Mr Shields.
Robert O’Brien said the addition of this Quest property in South Perth will spark immediate interest, driving traffic and creating opportunities for the growing business community.
“The presence of a second Quest property in South Perth is crucial as it provides additional high standard accommodation that will support the ongoing development of the area, as it continues to expand into a destination of choice to visit, live, work and play,” said Mr O’Brien.
The property will feature 90 studio, one and two bedroom apartments as well as facilities including a conference room, business lounge, gymnasium and outdoor terrace with barbeque area. Quest on Mends Street is expected to open in 2019.
