Pindan’s Chad Gerber was awarded as the Master Builder’s Association’s Ric New Rising Star for 2018 at an award ceremony on Friday evening.

The Ric New Rising Star award recognises potential, work ethic and commitment of a young person in the context of their current and future contribution to the building and construction industry in Western Australia.

Chad is a Contract Administrator and at just 25 years old was one of just six students to obtain a Master’s degree in the inaugural Building Information Modelling (BIM) course at the University of Western Australia in 2017.

George Allingame, Managing Director of Pindan, said whilst completing his degree Chad was instrumental in delivering the $30 million Warren Health Redevelopment in Manjimup, one of the Building Management and Works’ (BMW) first Building Information Modelling projects requiring Level of Detail 500.

“Chad overcame geographical challenges whilst completing his degree, having to complete much of the course work via video link whilst working full-time remotely on site in Manjimup.

“He even ended up finishing as the second top graduating student, a huge achievement not only at a young age, but given the way he had to approach his coursework,” George said.

“As the industry moves towards incorporating BIM as a benchmark and Government, resources and private clients increasingly set BIM as a pre-requisite, Chad’s contribution has and will continue to be trailblazing,” George added.
