Housing Diversity Championed at Beeliar
A new apartment development in the heart of Beeliar is set to deliver more aff ordable housing options for Western Australians on low to moderate incomes.
The two-storey complex, which is a joint-venture project between the Department of Communities and Pindan Homes, will feature 14 one and two-bedroom apartments.
Designed with seniors and people with mobility or access needs in mind, the ground-level homes will incorporate Silver Level Livable Home Standards – guidelines that champion user-friendly design features.
Construction is well underway at the 31 Kowara Dale site, which is close to Beeliar Shopping Centre, Beeliar Oval, Beeliar Primary School and public transport.
Residents will have easy access to employment, education and recreation via direct links to Fremantle and Cockburn Central train stations.
Scheduled for completion in June 2020, the project is part of the State Government’s Affordable Housing Action Plan 2017-18 to 2019-2020, which committed to building 7700 homes for people on low to moderate incomes.
Housing Minister Peter Tinley said the Beeliar development would help provide a better mix of dwellings in a suburb where choice was limited.
Property and construction group Pindan said it was pleased to be working with the State Government to deliver high-quality housing options in Beeliar.
The latest data from the Real Estate Institute of WA shows the median price for an unit in Beeliar is $334,400, while the average house will cost homebuyers $480,000.
Beeliar home values are up 0.8 per cent over the last 12 months, while unit values are up 7.9 per cent – bucking the broader trend of declining prices across Perth.
