The Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley required a modern, high quality airport as a statement and welcome that compliments the re-imaging they were undertaking at the time.
The terminal building welcomes transit passengers and arriving passengers alike and supports a favourable introduction to the region directly.
Functionally, the critical aspects of the brief were that the extension easily accommodates projected regular domestic flights, where it is typical that both arriving and departing passengers from both operating airlines require processing simultaneously.
The airport is also able to manage the eventuality of international charter flights. The airport minimises the cost of electricity consumption through appropriate climatic design.
