Outdoor Fun in Kardinya

Nothing quite beats a Perth Summer for the locals of Kardinya. There is certainly no shortage of outdoor spots to enjoy during the long summer days, and into the evenings, and residents at The Heights will enjoy these spots next summer, once they have moved into their newly completed homes.

Whether it is more active pursuits you are after, an opportunity to catch up with friends or a more relaxing way to spend time outside, here are our Top 5 things to do outdoors in Kardinya and surrounds:

1. Frederick Baldwin Park

Kardiniya as a suburb has its fair share of parks – 45 hectares of them in fact! This makes up 11% of the total suburb area, which is great news for residents as it means there are plenty of open spaces to enjoy.

Frederick Baldwin Park is one of our favourites. Located just off North Lake Road and just 2km up the road from The Heights, this reserve has a beautiful man-made lake and plenty of open space. It can even be booked through the City of Melville for parties and family events and with loads of parking, a series of footpaths, lots of reflective spaces complete with seating and two playgrounds, all ages can enjoy it!

2. Cockburn Wetlands, Bibra Lake and Beeliar Regional Park

Just a 6 minute drive from The Heights is the stunning Beeliar Regional Park, Bibra Lake and Cockburn Wetlands Education Centre. The Beeliar Regional Park is a stunning conservation reserve featuring two parallel chains of Wetlands stretching for 23kms. From bird –watching to bush walking, there is so much to do in this gorgeous area.

3. Stand Up Paddle Boarding along the Swan River or in Fremantle

Hire a board and enjoy all our beautiful river and/or Freo has to offer! You can take some lessons or just hire a board and have a go. Some of our favourite spots to try it out include Leighton Beach and Point Walter.

4. Morris Buzzacott Reserve

If sports are more your thing, Morris Buzzacott is the place to be. It is the location for both winter and summer sports for juniors and seniors and includes facilities such as a hockey stadium, football oval, cricket pitch, bowls, tee-ball, tennis courts and netball courts. Located on Williamson Road, it is also just a 2.5 kilometers from The Heights.

5. Bike riding around in Freo

Fremantle is just a 10 minute drive from The Heights, so pop your bikes on the back of your car and head towards the South Fremantle Foreshore to enjoy the range of cycle paths and lanes that run along the beach and also in and around the Fremantle City Centre itself.
