Easter, Anzac Day, long weekends and great weather – it doesn’t get much better than this!

If you’ve been thinking about where you’d like to call home, this is your chance to get out and about in the different communities to sample all the awesome events popping up locally.

1. Remember a hero

Commemorate ANZAC with Neville Browning

Want to experience Anzac Day like a true local? Rise and shine early on Thursday April 25 for a 6.00am Dawn Service followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at the Riverton RSL Sub-Branch, just up the road in Canning Vale’s neighbouring suburb, Willetton. 

This special service is a great chance for the local Canning Vale community to come together to reflect on the sacrifice made by those who fought for our freedom and how lucky we are to call Canning Vale home.
City of Subiaco Anzac Service
Date: Thursday 25 April
Time: 8am
Location: Fallen Soldiers Memorial, Subiaco

Finish off your Subiaco experience by reflecting on how fortunate we are to enjoy this enviable way of life at the City of Subiaco’s Anzac Service.

Join the local community and the Subiaco sub-branch RSLs for a special march starting at the Subiaco Post Office on Rokeby Road at 8am, before a ceremony at the Fallen Soldiers Memorial at 8.30am, followed by a morning tea at the Subiaco Community Centre.
City of Nedlands Service
Date: Thursday 25 April
Time: 9-10am
Location: Nedlands War Memorial, Dalkeith
Every ANZAC Day, Crawley residents gather at the Nedlands War Memorial to pay respect to the heroism and camaraderie immortalised in Australia's Anzac history.

Held City of Nedlands in partnership with RSL, getting together with your local community to remember Australia’s fallen World War I heroes and to reflect on what they fought for is a moving experience and a reminder of how lucky we are to live in a beautiful suburb like Crawley.

2. Get messy!

Gosnells Toy Library Messy Play

Dress the kids in old clothes and take the family to the Gosnells Toy Library for a fun filled morning with the team from Messy Moments. Got more time up your sleeve? Stick around afterwards for a delicious sausage sizzle and playtime with the coolest toys in town, including an amazing kids rollercoaster!

3. Hunt for Easter Eggs

Easter Egg Hunt at Livingston Marketplace
Date: Thursday 18 April
Time: 10am-12pm
Location: Livingston Marketplace, Canning Vale

Rule number one if you want to be Botanica local - never say no to free chocolate!  So round up the kids and head to the markets the day before Good Friday for an epic community Easter Egg Hunt!

This is so cool. First you and your little tacker get crafty making your own egg basket. Then you use the clue sheet to hunt around the centre looking for chocolate eggs (they’re hidden at participating stores). Once you’ve found all the chocolate, head back to the craft zone to collect a prize!

Local tip – book early as the Easter Egg hunt can only accommodate 120 children (plus parents – you’re part of the hunt too!)

4. Laugh at something!

Perth Comedy Festival Gala

Before things get serious on Anzac Day, treat yourself to a night of rib ticklng laughter at the not-to-be-missed Perth Comedy Festival Gala at Regal Theatre.

Featuring a dazzling line-up of the Festival’s funniest international stars, Australian legends and next-big-things, the Gala is a Subi local right of passage. And with Wednesday night’s lineup featuring David O'doherty from Ireland, Kanan Gill from India and Ron Funches from the USA, this is your chance to get a taste of what will be on your doorstep when you call Indigo home.

5. Catch a gig

In The Pines
Date: Sunday 14 April 2019
Time: 11am-10pm
Location: Somerville Auditorium, UWA, Crawley
Warm up to Easter the Sunday before with RTRFM’s iconic local music Festival IN THE PINES.
Back for its 26th year, this concert is a favourite amongst Crawley locals who love walking down and settling in for some cool live music amidst the splendid surrounds of UWA’s Somerville Auditorium.

This year will feature 20 of Perth’s best bands across two stages, including Cold Meat, Didion’s Bible, Downsyde, The Little Lord Street Band, The Bush Chooks and more.

Tickets to the public are just $40 presale at, or $45 at the door. Under 12s gain free entry.

6. Pop some tags

Rotary Swap Mart
Date: Easter Sunday 21 April 2019
Time: 7am till noon
Location: Broadway Fair, Nedlands

After your Easter Egg Hunt at home, come spend the rest of your Sunday morning fossicking for treasure at the Nedlands Swap mart.

These markets have been running for many years and are full of stalls with almost anything you can imagine at bargain prices (much cheaper than you’d find at an op shop), with all proceeds going towards rotary charities.

Bring your family and friends and soak up the vibrant community atmosphere just down the road from Crawley.

7. Get adventurous!

Adventure World Easter Event
Date: Good Friday 19 April
Time: 10am-5pm
Location: Adventure World
Living in Kardinya is amazing – how many of your friends can say they live 5 minutes up the road from WA’s biggest and coolest playground – Adventure World?

And it gets even better these school holidays. They’re holding a special Easter Event on Good Friday, with hours of adrenalin-fuelled entertainment including visits from Dragon's Kingdom's own Yarli, Yarlotte and Flossy and an epic Easter Egg Hunt for kids 12 and under.

The Adventure World Team will be hiding Easter Egg tokens throughout the park – if you find one, bring it to the Guest Services desk between 12 and 2pm to claim an awesome prize!

LOCAL TIP: pre-purchase your tickets or risk missing out! Better hop to it!

8. Treat yourself!
Phoenix Kids Easter Fun

Location: Phoenix Shopping Centre, Spearwood
Looking for FREE Easter fun? Bring your little ones to Phoenix Shopping Centre this Easter, just down the road in Spearwood.

They’ve got an egg-citing Easter Basket Workshop on in the Kids Fun area near Jesters. You don’t need to book, just hop in and get cracking, then stick around for an Easter Bunny ‘meet n’ treat’!

Local tip: The workshops are first in best dressed, so get in early!

9. Run for a reason

ANZAC Day River Run 2019
Date: Thursday 25 April
Time: 8.30am-12.30pm
Location: Tompkins Park, Alfred Cove
Every year, active Kardinya locals flock to Tompkins Park just up the road in Alfred Cove for Anzac Day River Run. Kicking off at 8:30am, this fun day is a positive way to honous those who sacrificed their lives, while also raising money for the Fremantle Foundation. Choose from 8km and 4km, with limited edition River Run T-Shirts and certificates for the kids! Adult, child and family registrations are available online on the Anzac Day River Run Facebook Event page!

Not up for running? Why not head to the City of Canning Anzac Day Service at the War Memorial on Albany Highway instead? The ceremony starts with a parade from the Canning Town Hall at 8am and finishes at 11am.

10. Spend a day at the show

Kids Big Carnival 2019

Location: Wanneroo Showgrounds
